She just missed out on a medal in Balance Beam at London 2012, but Catalina Ponor’s performance on the beam during the team qual rounds was simply stunning. Perhaps not as technically demanding as some of the other athletes routines, Catalina nonetheless moved with a grace and fluidity that was a sight to behold. At 24 years of age, she’s also the gymnastic equivalent of a senior citizen.

She sure will be missed. She was disappointed of her performance on beam (keeping a murder face during the whole finale!), but nonetheless the routine was great.
