I vaguely remember when she was commissioned on the one TV station we got in Malta, MT fifty one years ago…….I was seven years old.

    I was on a camp trip from Sonoma County to Candlestick Park. Others watched Willie Mays hit a home run. From high up in the stands I watched the USS Enterprise at Alameda NAS. My strongest memory of the entire trip was the radically different superstructure of USS Enterprise.

    I had no knowledge of billboard radar arrays at my tender age, even though Skaggs Island Naval Station was a NAVSECGRU outfit. My father (A CTCS at that time) never brought his work home.
