Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFT) for the Super Hornet?
The fuel fraction for the Super Hornet is no great shakes, but she does have better range than the legacy Hornets. And while most of us lay observers of Naval Aviation today think the short striking range of the current air wing is probably its greatest shortcoming, the fact is, the Super is hardly the most sprightly bird to ever launch from a carrier. Somehow, the F-14 managed to have both better range and a higher top end speed. Admittedly, the F-14 may not have had the instantaneous turn rate, but it did manage to hold its own.

Seriously, we need to start a background check/licensing process for state legislators.

One reason why many conservatives are perceived as “anti-intellectual” is the extremely low state of “intellectual” thinking these days. And there’s no bias in higher ed, trust me.

When H. R. McMaster speaks, it’s a pretty good idea to listen.

I’ve said it before, and I will continue to say it: the F-14 was a marvelous plane, but also a very expensive one to operate.
The main reason they phased the P-38 Lightning out of the 8th AF wasn’t its performance compared to the famous Mustang. The Lightning in many respects outperformed the P-51*. The latter was -alas for the Lightning- much, much less expensive to build & maintain than the former.
*I will go on record to say that the P-38 was the WW2 equivalent of the F-4, but didn’t enjoy the same support the Phantom II did during development & debugging.
