Arab Spring 2.o?

So, the Muslim Brotherhood had its shot at ruling Egypt.

Morsi’s out of power, per the Egyptian military, in what was, rather surprisingly, a fairly peaceful revolution.

Will Egypt be able to form a stable, effective government from the various factions now?

I have no idea.

The brilliance of the Emperor has saved the Egyptian people again!

The MB is not out of the picture, even if Morsi is.

It is indeed. We will see if it stays repealed.

    • There’s every good chance they’ll resort to violence. But the fact that the regime change has been relatively peaceful so far is rather astonishing. It could very easily have devolved into a civil war. Heck, still might.

I mentioned the other day not getting too excited about Obama continuing to provide equipment and money to Egypt, because it was virtually all going to the military, which, after 2 generations of fairly consistent engagement with the West is fairly moderate, and in no rush for a theocratic state.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time a theocratic regime has successfully been repealed.
